Cottage is ideally situated as a base
from which to explore the many
delights
this interesting and varied county has
to offer.
Within a 20 mile radius can be found
the
historic cities
of Bath
and
Salisbury
as well as the ancient sites
of Stonehenge
and Avebury.
The
Longleat
estate with its lions
and many other
attractions along
with the beautiful
Stourhead
estate a mere 30 minutes drive away.
On
your doorstep is the famous market
town
of Devizes
with
its traditional
Thursday market
and the Kennet and
Avon Canal which rises through the
town with its flight of 29
locks.
In
the summer months you may be
lucky to see a cropcircle, as the
Wiltshire Downs are renowned
for these strange events!!
The
local area is excellent for walking
with many footpaths.
Only a short
walk from the cottage is
the ancient Ridgeway path which
offers magnificent views, good
birdwatching, the
Wiltshire Cycleway
& The White Horse way.
The area also has a number of
good golf
courses and
horse
riding
is
nearby.
Just
a five minute walk down the
lane is the beamed and thatched
village
pub which offers excellent
home-cooked meals and the local
Wadworth ale.
A
butcher, pharmacy, Co-op and
hardware store, together with a
fish and
chip shop and Chinese
takeaway are a five-minute drive
away in Market Lavington
